Honor Choir

Friday 23 of January I got the opportunity to go to UMEA Honor Choir at Sycrous high school. I had five other great companions with me. Adrienne; alto, Keyara; Soprano, Mia; alto, Marquie; alto, and Ashley; soprano. We all had a blast.

We had to be at the bus at 6:00 a.m. Friday morning. We had a fun trip up there. When the Canyon View Choir students got on they brought Cinnamon rolls, they were really good. On the way up there we sang all the way up the canyon until Soldiers Summit. I think we kind of bugged the people that were sleeping. But while we stopped singing Canyon View students started singing. They had a soloist that was going to try out so they were singing along with him. Then I couldn't sleep so i just stayed awake and listened to my MP3 player while every body slept. Then when we finally got there i got kind of nervous. But the school was huge It had an up stairs and a down stars and every thing. They had a huge cafeteria. But when we got in we had to separate into different SATB Groups. I got to sit by Keyara and Ashley lucky me.

The director we had was Kelley Dehaun. He made it really fun and really good. We started out with these exercises that helped us with your breathing, hearing, and pitches. It wasn't that bad. We did exercises for about 10 or 15 min better then I thought it would be. Then we sang our songs. I loved every single one of them. They had lots of high notes that I love to hit. But the best song was the men's song. Oh it melted every girls hearts in there. Because they blended so well and I loved it. I could have listened to it for the whole time. But the song was called Who Are the Brave. Then there was the song called Echo I loved that one too. It was a really high song. And it just sounded like it clashed a little but it was right. Then there was Still We Die Nacht, it was a German song. In English it was called Calm as the night. It was a really pretty song. Then there was a song that was called Let Every Thing That Hath Breath. I loved it too. We got to clap while we sang it. Then there was another song that was not my favorite it was the girls piece. It just copied the words over and over again. We got to clap on that song too. Then there was a song that was a match between the Men's song. There was a men's solo in that one too. I tried out for two solos. I tried out for the solo in Let Every thing that Hath Breath and Still I Rise (the girls song.) But i didn't practice for the girls song i just wanted to do the Let every thing that Hath Breath. I made it to the semi finals in that one.

Then we practiced till five then we went to go check into the hotel. Then we went to go eat. That's a story for another day though.

When we went back to the hotel we went swimming that was fun too. There was a hot tub and I had a lot of fun there. Then we had to be back at the high school at 2:00 the next day. We woke up the next morning and went to eat breakfast. And we got ready and at 11:30 we went to the mall to look around and eat. But it was raining so hard and it was so cool to see. For the last Hour or 30 min. I played in the rain with Keyara. It was so fun. Then we went to the high school for the last few hours. I me this really cool guy named Trevor. It was fun to get to know him. The Concert turned out to be a really big success. It was amazing.

Anyway is was sad to go back home. I was going to miss it and I still miss it. I love to sing and I will always love it.
