Solo Ensamble

On February 18 2009 I got the opportunity to go to Solo Ensemble. I went to school on the bus. Then right when the bell rang to go to class we had to go to the bus to take us to solo ensemble. On the bus every body was nervous they were all going through their songs. But I wasn't really nervous at first. When we arrived we went to the places where we were supposed to go.

For band I did a Trumpet solo and while I was playing my trumpet my friends said my skirt was shaking cause I was shaking so hard, it was cold in the room too. I was about half way down the line in the list from San Rafael. I had to play at 9:30ish. After I played my trumpet solo i went straight to the choir room.

Holy cow when you went in the choir room you can tell wish students are from each school by the way the sing. Mont Harmon was just not very good. My favorite singer from Mont Harmon school was a girl that sang the same song better then the girl did from our school. I can't really remember what the song was called though. Anyway the rest were terrible they ruined one of my favorite songs that I liked to listen to. Then there were this terrible girls from helper one of them used actions when she sang. She sang the Lovely song from My Fair Lady and when she sang a mans hand resting on my knee she would but her hand on her knee ha it was kind of funny. Then the next girl from helper sang the I've Got The Whole World In My Hands song. I couldn't help but quote the one astronaut movie, now for the Chinese. i laughed the whole time she sang that song. I know I'm so bad but i couldn't help it it was just so funny. Then it was lunch then our school was up to sing. The boys went first and they sounded really good for what our men's choir sounds like, but they were amazing. Then it was Adrienne's duet with Mia they sang When Johnny Comes Marching Home they did good too. Then it was Adrienne's solo I loved her song to. She sang Weep You No More Sad Fountains. Keyara sang next I loved that song too it sounded really familiar though. I loved it she did so amazing i loved it too. Then it was Mia's solo she sang a Italian song I can't remember the title. I loved that song too though. Ashley's song was after Mia's solo. She sang Who'll Buy My Lavender. I was so worried that those two would beat me and we were going to sing a trio but it didn't work out. For lunch I wasn't sure what get the outstanding so I worked extra hard. Then Hailee sang her solo it was really good. Then it was our duet and I turned out really good I though but I messed up an shook my head and that was a dumb thing to do. Then I sang my solo it was a Charlotte church song. Panis Angelicus. Mr. Banntjer told us to make eye contact with the judges do I did. I did pretty good too. Then there was one more after me and it was a song with six people. It was so good. Hailee sang in that one too. Then after us we had lunch. It was so hard to wait to see what the judges said about your song and your voice. Waiting was the worst part. I didn't know what to eat at lunch so I just brought an apple and some carrots and a bottle of lemon water. We had about a half an hour to go into the bid auditorium to see who got what. I was so nervous.

Mr Baantjer took me aside and told me that I got the outstanding at first I was surprised then I was so exited but I didn't say anything to anybody because I new two other people who wanted it as bad as I did. So I just kept it hush hush. I was kind of scared to have the guy to announce it because I was kind of scared to see the other girls reaction. Before it started though everybody told me to go get my trumpet because they told me I might get an outstanding on it. I just laughed and looked away saying no I won't. There was this person there that just is a sweet heart they makes everything bad just go away when you talk to him. That person makes you not nervous for some reason. And no I don't ahve a crush on this person, he just has a heart of gold. He just made every thing seem better. I told him I got the outstanding and he told me there was nothing to worry about he just said that he new I would get it. It made me feel really good when he said that. Then I went to go sit down and the announcer got up and told every body who got what and when he said my name everybody turned and looked at me. But I went up to sing and I did really good. I stepped off the stage and went to my seat. Everybody else that got an outstanding played there songs went on the stage too. Then Hailee and her six people got an outstanding and went up to sing there song it was so good. Hailee was in it and Adrienne, Mia, Ashley, Merilyn, and Max. They were so good. After it was over Adrienne was the first person to give me a hug and it made my day. The reason why all of us sounded good was because of our talent and because we have the best Jr. high choir teacher in the whole state of Utah, Mr. Baantjer. We wouldn't be where we are without him. Because of him most of the ninth graders went to region solo ensemble and state. And not many ninth graders make it to state. He is amazing. Because of him Adrienne, Mia, Ashley, Max, and me are going.

At state it was so intimidating because I felt like a little kid and the high schoolers were looking at us like what are you doing here. It was kind of creepy. We stayed in the hall way for about an hour and a half it was kind of scary just waiting there. But finally we got to go it along with all of the high schoolers. They were all so good. Spencer was my favorite men's solo and I had a lot of favorite female solos. Nikki was there too she sang a quartet it was beautiful. Then it was all of our turns again. It was so good and now I'm going to state too. Because of Mr. Banntjer all of the ninth graders that got to go to region get to go to state. So wish me and Nikki luck at state.
